Ed, I think most PJ residents can completely relate to the need to enhance security in residential areas, and thus, the need for dropgates and such.
However, some have expressed concern that this may end up excluding non-section 5 residents from using the recreational spaces afforded by the green lung here. Ed, can you provide some clarification on this?

hi there
Non Section 5 citizens need not fear. The drop gates are not meant to exclude them from the facilities in our community or to shut them out. The gates are to enable our security personnel (in the process of being recruited) and the police to carry out more efficient and effective control of security in the area. This includes the security and safety of the women and children and the less able bodied from outside Section 5 who frequent our community for their daily work-out.
For your guidance, we have identified the following periods when the gates will be in use:
1. Objection & amp; Trial period - April 18 - May 17, 2007
————————————————————
ALL gates will remain open unless there are emergencies reported and the gates closed under police or security guard supervision.
2. AT the end of the objection/trial period i.e. May 17, 2007 all of the gates will be open (between 6.30 am to 9.30 pm daily)
—————————————————————–
ALL 6 gates into Section 5 will remain open during these hours so that access will not be hampered in any way.
3. Closure of roads (9.30 pm to 6.30 am daily)
——————————————————
The daily closure of gates at Jalan 5/12, 5/9, 5/5, 5/2 will be between the hours of 9.30 pm till the next morning at 6.30 am when they will re-open.
4. Through roads
——————–
Jalan 5/35 and 5/13 (Jalan Chantek) will remain open unless emergencies are reported.
It will be closed in the daytime only during emergencies like when incidents of ongoing robberies and thefts are reported.
